Hi,

We often have several photos to attach to a single HM entity, and so attach them as general attachments rather than the single "photo" option. The "views" button in the attachments window allows us to switch between list and icon view, but I'd like to see a thumbnail view of attached photos, which currently isn't an option, at least on Windows 7 (Currently using 9.14, haven't seen behaviour on XP or Vista).

Often we're talking a user through something and have sevaral photos to re-familiarise ourselves with a remote site & equipment as we go - suggestions for alternative ways to manage these photos within HM wouldn't go astray either!

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your post and suggestions. You'll be pleased to know that the next major version, v10 will do this.

For version 10, we've re-written the way the attachments and photo mechanism works. Instead of a single button at the bottom-left of each entity screen, we've moved the attachments to a separate "Attachments" tab. When you click on the attachment, a preview will be shown, without having to actually open the attachment as in v9.1.

Additionally, the single "Photograph" style attachment will be displayed on the client screen to give a visual of the person. Moreover, this photograph will be displayed in the new-look action log. We've got some good plans to improve upon this more with "Gravatar" (http://en.gravatar.com/) support.

I post some screen-snaps of v10 tomorrow.

Best regards,
Rod

OK, here are a few snaps of HelpMaster v10.

The clients now have the photo visible on the front tab.  This can be selected, or chosen via http://en.gravatar.com/ (get one today!)

The new look action log will also display this image.  This makes it easier to visualize the lifecycle of a job.

How does it look?

..also, the attachments button in the bottom-left has been replaced by an "Attachments" tab.

All attachments are now drag 'n drop between HelpMaster and Windows Explorer (and other sources).

Attachments can be previewed, and the View menu behaves like the Windows Explorer.

Much better.

The attachments tab looks like a great improvement, sounds like it has all the functionality we could want! Looking forward to seeing this released.

The client photos isn't something we would use here but I like the implementation.

Thanks for the update.

Rod,

Looks great. Pretty much along the lines of the Identity Manager concept that we discussed last year.

A question though....

For our purposes, we would like this feature incorporated into the Staff Web Interface. Is this already in train or is it something to be done?

cheers

Stu

Hi Stu,

Yes, we're getting there with the Identity Manager concept. The picture for the client will also be displayed in the web interface.

This means that someone at the front desk (security officer etc) can be logged in to HelpMaster web, and can confirm the photo ID of a person just by using the client search screen and displaying their record.

In their spare time, they could also write knowledge base articles ;-)

Hope this helps.
