Hi all,

I had a quick scan of the v8 features and changes recently. (Still using v7.xxx here.) The only change I recall is an easier linking process, I think. May I suggest a change to the parent/child relationship?

At this stage all it does is recognise related jobs. Each job is still maintained independently.

Is it possible to flag, or create a new parent job, link the appropraite child job/s and then work the parent ticket only so that each action on the parent is automatically copied into the child/ren? Perhaps we could also choose not to see the child jobs in the queue but to have the flag on the parent display the number of linked child jobs. Closing the parent could automatically close the children, or you could select to close the children before the parent is allowed to be closed.

Hi Aprill,

Thanks for your feedback. In the upcoming v9 we've improved the linking process for everything, so it's now basically a drag 'n drop operation to link anything to anything. This makes it a lot easier to create Parent / Child relationships between helpdesk jobs.

Regarding the other issues, the basic nature of the relationship hasn't been changed, so all of the things you've mentioned above will not appear in the first release of v9. As usual, you've raised some good points, so we'll definately consider implementing these things in a future release of the product.
