Hello,

I need help with SQL.  I made the mistake of having my v7.5 database in the master.mdf database.  When attempting to load sql 2005 service pack 2 I lost the original master.mdf.  I have a backup master.bak (my whole helpdesk database!) but to no avail can I get it to restore, import or create a new database??  I've tried updating the master while is single-user mode but it will not go.  Creating a new database gives me an error about the sysnsobjs.  I have no helpdesk working right now and desperately need to get it back online, at least v7.5 if not up to v8.0, my original goal!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Anne Savoie

Hi Anne,

Sounds like you've got an interesting database challenge here. We've logged your support call and will contact you with information regarding this issue.

The basic approach to the solution will be to move all of the HelpMaster Pro database objects out of the Master and into it's own database.

Hi Anne,

I believe that I've fixed your database and have contacted you via our internal support channel with the details. For the benefit of anyone else reading this thread, basically ApexSQL Script saved the day again. I used this tool to script out the database (schema + data), and then ran the script to create a new, fixed database. ApexSQL Script is a fantastic database tool that anyone working with databases should look into http://www.apexsql.com/sql_tools_script.asp
