    ... but it is. Really.

    I'm evaluating HelpMaster Pro with the Email Manager, and it looks fantastic - but for some reason, I cannot get it to connect to my Exchange Server. I know the Exchange Server is up and running, as I'm sending emails back and forth through it, but HelpMaster doesn't want to connect. My Service Setup passes with flying colors, so I don't think it's a configuration issue.

    Anyone have any thoughts? I'd really like to get this working, as the Email Manager is the primary reason we're looking at HMP for our Help Desk Software.

    Hi Nick,

    Glad to hear you're liking the Email Manager. Sorry to hear you can't get it going! ;-(

    The Email Manager connects to Exchange via an Outlook profile. Which version of Outlook do you have installed? Try Outlook 2007 if you've got it.
    Also, check the Windows Event log > Email Manager section to view further information about what may be causing the issue.
    Try disabling all Email Manager profile except one. If the service starts OK, then you know that one of the disabled profiles is causing the problem. In this case, it's likely a permissions issues on the inbox / folder that is being scanned, or the folder that the mail is being moved to.

    Even though the service setup test passes, try using another account to see if it will connect. Perhaps try a fully privilege domain admin account with full email rights. If this connects OK, then you know you've got a permissions issue.

    I'm running 2003 right now. I'll bring my 2007 box in tomorrow and give that a whirl. As an aside, does HMP support Windows 2010 Beta?

    Hi Nick,

    I think running Outlook 2007 will clear up this issue. Regarding the 2010 Beta, we are about to start our testing on the next wave of Microsoft products. Windows 7 is OK and tested, and now we're moving onto the other products. We made quite a few architectural changes and improvements for Vista and Windows 7 compliance, so I'm confident that HelpMaster is ready. Being a Microsoft partner, it is certainly our intention to have HelpMaster fully compatible will all Microsoft products.
