Hi John
Thanks for your post and welcome to the HelpMaster discussion board.
Client import from AD / text file.
You can use the HelpMaster Active Directory module to import and sync your Active Directory users. You can also use the import utility (Adminstration menu) to import from an XML file.
Logging jobs etc
When jobs are logged in HelpMaster, you need to link at least one client (person) to the job. Clients in turn can be linked to a site (building / organization etc). Each client has all of their contact details stored against their record. This can be viewed in the client screen. You can also use the Field chooser to display client or site details whenever you are viewing job data.
So when logging a new job, you don't necessarily have to have a dedicated text box/drop-down box on the job screen to store client or site data. This can be stored back at the client or site screen. You just link the client to the job at the point of logging it.
Having said that, you can create custom fields (text box, drop-down box etc) and have them displayed in the "Custom" tab of the job screen that could be used to store the data you're after.
Custom fields changing dynamically based on selection
Currently HelpMaster does not do this. Once a custom field has been created and defined, they will not change in their scope, data content or appearance based on other parameters of the job / entity that it is associated with. We are considering updating this behaviour in future releases.
Hope this information helps and makes sense.
Please feel free to call the office (02 62784664) to discuss options if you like.
Best regards,
Rod
