    We use email manager to create cases but often the emails contain a few key details but also contain lot of "noise" that our techs need to sort through to find the important job details.  The emails are automated from 3rd parties or from other software systems so are in a standard format that can be parsed. 

    It would be great to use email manager to filter out the noise and build job fields by concatenating variables with meaningful text so the jobs contain only useful information, with the email as an attachment.  The parsing engine is great but we are limited to mapping only one variable to any job field.

    If we separate out the mapping of variables from the parsing screen to a separate section for building fields then we could build fields from useful info.   The field builder could be a dropdown box to select the text field you want to build, then the text box below could be populated with text and variable place holders in a similar way to the email manager interface.

    Hi Marni,

    Thanks for the suggestion - this is an interesting idea.  We'll definitely add this to our wish list and see what we can come up with.

    You're right.  At the moment, you can only extract text and save it to a limited list of job fields, or save it to a variable (which can later be parsed also).  It would be good to not only save it to a selected variable, but to also append it to that variable, in affect, building up a block of text....and if you could also save to individual fields then this would be even better. 

    Thanks for the idea.

    Anyone else using the Email Manager parsing engine?  Ideas?

    Good idea Marni. I would love to see the full range of fields, including Client details and all custom fields, available to map into from the parser.

    For an example, you might receive an email from a generic email address, but in that email is the client name and email address, phone number etc. If you want the Email Manager to log it, it will get logged with the generic email address as the client.

    If I could use the parser to pull out the client name and contact info, and use that as the basis for a new job, it would be fantastic.

    This feature was implemented in HelpMaster and appears in the Email Manager parser "Script" and "String builder" sections. See the help file for complete information about this.
