    Hi All,

We are running v12 and have noticed that the web module which running on Win 2008 R2 IIS 7.5 deployed as a Host is extremely slow on first call to the web page.

For Example, if I reboot my PC and then after logging into Windows I use Internet Explorer and browse to the site, it will take about 1 and half minutes to open, it doesn't matter if I browse to the default page, winlogin page or the KB page. Once Im finally in the page works a treat. Even after closing and reopening the IE page the site is quick. However after rebooting again the same problem in the morning. We are more then ever using the web module for self service and I have alot of complaints about it.

I have read a few articles about the same problem with ASP and changed the Idle time out for the app pool to 0 and still same the problem.

Initailly I thought it could be the server, however it is now on a new server with 8 core and 12GB of RAM doing nothing other then HelpMaster.

    Please Help!

    Kind Regards

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for your question and for raising this issue.

Some initial delay on a newly restarted Microsoft IIS web application is normal. All Microsoft asp.net applications are compiled and cached to a certain degree when they are first loaded into the memory of IIS. Subsequent access to the application is much quicker as you've noticed.

However, we'll have another look at the initial start-up time and see what we can improve. The development team here at PRD Software will do some diagnostic testing and see if there are improvements in the code and start up and/or configuration conditions.

I'll provide an update when further information comes to hand.

In the meantime, please send through any other observations you may have about the web interface and we'll look into it.
