When the HelpMaster Web Interface is installed, the application folder structure is created in the following default directory;
C:\inetpub\wwwroot\HelpMaster\
The folder named HelpMaster Web Interface
contains Active Server
Pages (ASPX), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), the application
configuration file (web.config)
, and other
web related files needed for the HelpMaster Web Interface
to run. Each file and sub folder stored within the HelpMaster
Web Interface
folder (or specified web interface installation
folder) must stay in its original location and
maintain the same hierarchy or the web
interface will fail to function correctly. When using the default
installation folder the Virtual Directory created will form part of
the url that users will browse to when accessing the HelpMaster Web
Interface e.g.
http://[IISServerMachineName]/[VirtualDirectoryName]
.
In order for IIS to manage the web files, IIS needs to know where they are so that it can set up a virtual directory/web application. Depending on your company's business policy regarding the location of managed web pages through IIS, you may need, or want to relocate the web pages to a location other than the default installation directory.
The following option is worth considering:
Install the HelpMaster Web Module to an alternate install
location. This may be for example C:\inetpub\HelpMaster
so that the Web Interface structure can be installed as a
Web Site in it's own right e.g. the url to browse to would be
http://[IISServerMachineName]
.
From the IIS administration screen, map the HelpMaster Web Interface Web
Site path directly to C:\inetpub\HelpMaster
.
