Would it be helpful when a job is a child to no longer display on jobs lists, and have a flag available under field chooser to display if the parent has children, perhaps the #?

Could be a configurable option to be used on a saved search?

Cheers.

I suppose using a different Job Type eg 'Child' would allow me to exclude from a saved search, would look funny on the stats reports though..

Hi Peter,

Some good ideas here. Adding the additional field to the field chooser is an interesting idea. If a parent has multiple child jobs, would you expect to see all of the job numbers listed, or perhaps just a flag to indicate that it does have children?

I'll add this to our list of things to consider. Thanks for the idea - the linking of jobs will be a lot easier in the upcoming version - simply drag 'n drop, so we expect that a lot more people will be using this powerful feature of HelpMaster Pro in future versions.

Thanks again,

Rod

Have you seen what's new in v9 yet?

I was thinking that the flag would count the number of children. If no children would display 0. An option on the exporer would be 'display children' yes/no if no then display flag by default, if yes then still optional to display flag with field chooser.

Dragging and dropping would be excellent. Tried creating a job when in the child jobs area, the job didn't become a child of the parent. Will have to give that another go..

Thinking of best ways to record project work where there are x child jobs for the main project job. Each child may have a different issue and primary client and assigned to, eg rollout of something new requires a, b and c to be done (eg equipment purchase, software cofig, documentation).
