Version 8 of HelpMaster Pro uses a new way of storing some basic application settings.  Previous version of HelpMaster Pro used the registry to store basic setttings like

    • Database location and names
    • Last logged on user
    • Refresh settings

These were typically stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HelpMaster Pro\8

Due to popular request from many network administrators around the world, we've changed how HelpMaster Pro stores this information.  Now all of this data is stored in an XML file called "HelpMaster Pro Application Settings.xml" which is location in the "Bin" directory of the installation path.  HelpMaster Pro automatically creates and manages this file and to the end-user of HelpMaster Pro, this is something that will not affect them in any way.

Hopefully this change will mean less network maintenance, an increase in network and application security, and fewer  headaches for those who manage HelpMaster Pro rollouts across a network.

    Best regards,

    Rod
