    Hi,

Would it be useful for others if you could map an AD field to HMP for the HMP Employee Site?

This could be done under the HMP AD module using field mappings that are customisable, that is choose which AD fields map to HMP fields, so we could choose to use "AD > General > Office" or "AD > Organisation > Department" to populate HMP Site.

It'd be up to us to populate the AD field with values that match the Sites set up in HMP, so the update would only populate HMP where the value is acceptable.

At the moment we're having to update the HMP Site for our new AD accounts, which is otherwise automated with no manual updates required.

    Cheers

    Hi Peter,

Great idea. I'm sure this will be used quite a bit. We'll definitely add this to our list of things to do.

    Best regards,

    Rod

    Done.

Check out the screen shot of v9.

Thanks for the great suggestion.  We're ready for the next one! ;-)

    Best regards,

Would this feature work better if the AD integration tool mapped AD OU’s to the site field for a helpmaster client?

For lazy or efficient AD administrators (depending on which way you look at it) they would not have to maintain the company field in AD. In our company, movement of users between OU's is something that occurs sometimes but generally people will neglect to update details for the users.

It's good that someone has already thought of this. We have found that having manually assign AD tool created HMP users to "companies" or "sites" in HMP has implications for reporting, we have even toyed with the idea of our custom reports querying the AD OU for the HMP user in order to generate reports with up to date company info. Obviously it would be much better if it was automatic and actually updated the users in HMP.

    Comments?

    Hi Nathan,

Thanks for the idea. Perhaps we could have both options for synchronizing the site name. We could have the one currently implemented, and then another checkbox under it that would use the name of the OU being scanned as the site name.

Sounds like a great idea. This way when staff move around the AD structure, their site details in HMP will be updated with the name of the OU.

Have I got your idea right?

    Best regards,

    Rod

Yep, same as what is already implemented but it would just use the AD OU of the user. That way it would update the helpmaster user account site/company details whenever a user is moved.

A checkbox to allow both would work. Even better would be the ability to mix and match the mapping fields for all mapping fields , although that might increase implementation complexity for most users and if you allowed custom mappings there could be inappropriate relationships between fields and incorrect data being input to fields.

OK Great. Consider it added to the dev wishlist.

    Thanks for the idea.
