Here's an interesting idea that was sent through to our tech support recently.

Hey, when in the Self Service portal, can you “bump” a job. Ie lets say you have ten jobs in the list, and 3 of them are getting pretty urgent, can you bump/nudge them , ie to get our attention.

Some of our big sites might have say 50 jobs, and depending on what’s happening, they will want to bring certain ones to our attention.  A bit like sending an email asking” what happening with this job”

I was thinking you could actually count the times it has been bumped and this could form a priority of sorts.

What does everyone think about this idea?  Might work well?

How does your helpdesk handle a "bump" request?  If we get some good discussion going, we can build it into HelpMaster for a future release.

    Thanks,

    Rod

I would have thought the priority field should be updated if they are justified as urgent, not relying on how many bump clicks it gets.

Perhaps a client button "request status update" in the web interface would work well - it could generate a lot of unnecessary work if people request status updates too freely though.
This would also increase the amount of actions per job. I sometimes find the list of actions gets quite long and it would be nice to highlight a selection of them as "starred" to the job, such as ones that contain approvals or decisions made during the process.....this could be achieved already via reports and custom fields.
