You make some good points here.  I'll address these point by point.

Point 1.  Email a specific attachment.  Currently, you can send attachments as part of a progress note (Action), and the action log will retain this history and the attachment will be attached to the action and can be viewed from the "Attachments" tab on the action (v10 only).  The action log will display a paper clip icon (if selected in the Action Field chooser) to indicate that an attachment was sent as part of the action.   However, the attachment does not appear in the job attachments list.  Currently HelpMaster treats Job attachments and Action attachments as separate. 

We are planning to improve this.  In future versions, the job will display both the job attachments and the action attachments.

Point 2.  Email template tags and duplicate attachments.  In v10.0.2, we've added the new Email Template tag <>.  This will send any attachments that are linked to the action.  This is a new concept that should do what you're after.  In your scenario, you could attach the modified log file to the attachment and then use an email template with this new tag and it would do what you're after.  You can view the v10 version history on this page

Point 3.  Attachments storage.  This is something we're currently looking into for the v10.1 release.  See roadmap.  Creating a new folder per job/action is one possibility that we're considering. For users of HelpMaster that use attachments extensively, this would create a lot of folders in the disk system.  We're also looking at archiving options and even database storage options for attachments.  Stay tuned for this one...

The system tag of <> would greatly help me. I am probably going to look a bit silly but for the life of me I could not find this tag anywhere in the email template screen on V10.0.2. It was neither in the helpdesk or the action list of codes

Can we also improve the naming convention of the files in the attachment folder on the server.
There are already over 1000 files in there but the names are different.

If the attachment is inserted as part of the orginal job log then it will be named
Job526652_image001.png

However if the attachment is inserted as part of the an action then it will be named
Action93665_Job526652_image001.gif

The "Action93665" does not mean much and is really an internal reference. If however this was renamed with the job first then at least I would be able to go into the folder and sort and group related files. So then I would have:
Job526652_image001.png
Job526652_Action93665_image001.gif
